Things You Should Know About High School (Vol. 2)

Vol. 1

008. Don't worry about things that aren't really your problem. This is probably one of the hardest things to do. But, if it doesn't involve you then it is not your problem. You don't need to know everything about everyone, and no one needs to know everything about you.

009. Some people are just plain hard to deal with. You're going to have to deal with these types of people your whole life though. So you're better off getting used to it now, because these people will be with you until high school ends.

010. If you don't want people to say bad things about you, don't say bad things about other people yourself. Sure, there's still a chance that people are gonna talk about you even if you're the nicest, sweetest person alive. But that doesn't mean that you need to follow up and start talking about them. Because high school is the time to grow up and turn the other cheek.

011. Repeat after me: High School is only four years.
And then it's over. So if your high school life is going well, embrace it. Because you'll never get to do it again. And, if you're not enjoying yourself, remember that once it's over, you can leave and never look back.

012. Being in groups/clubs can introduce you to some of the best people you will ever meet. Take this one from me personally. If I hadn't been a part of band, choir, GSA, and speech, my entire freshman year would've been completely different. It made me realize how many amazing people I've been around my whole life. If you feel alone, they're always there. You have a person to talk to.

013. You will not be every teachers favorite. Just in the same way that every teacher won't be your favorite.

014. Don't take yourself too seriously. Make a joke at you own expense every now and then, just because you can. Don't worry about looking good all the time. No one will remember what you wore last Tuesday, nor do they really care. There's no need to remind everyone how amazing you are, because if they need reminding then they don't appreciate you enough for you to waste your time on them.

015. (Cheesy alert) If plan A doesn't work, then there's a million other plans to try. You won't pass every test, and you won't have every experience. Life isn't an 80's movie. And that's disappointing at times. Just move on. Carry on....(my wayward son)....(yes that was necessary).
